360º: Tringa Gashi & Andita Shabanaj - Display

Villa Kultur er stolte af at præsentere udstillingen Display, skabt og kurateret af kunstnerne Tringa Gashi og Andita Shabanaj. Udstillingen er en del af 360º-programmet.

Display

Display marks the first collaborative exhibition of the artist duo Tringa Gashi and Andita Shabanaj, presenting their films ‘Common Desire’ (2024) and ‘In time’ (2025).

’Common Desire’
is set in present day Kosovo, exploring ideas of luxury and lust in mass consumerism, through the medium of scent. From small perfumeries to malls in Prizren, with a distinct and dizzying visual aesthetic, Gashi and Shabanaj prodded at ideas of real and fake, fantasy and value, class and social mobility, alternating between staged and documentary footage.

The show also marks the premiere of ‘In Time’, the duo's second film. Set within a lush hotel room in Pristina, the film follows a protagonist, finding herself living in multiple layered temporalities. Through the balcony windows the city’s architectural landscape looms, with its uneven surface of past and present. The film explores how different currencies intersect, raising deeper questions about personal identity and the evolving concept of a nation.

About the artists

Andita Shabanaj (b.1995) is an artist who’s practice focuses on how digital images are distributed, interpreted, and embedded within political and cultural contexts. Integrating poetic elements into her films, Shabanaj examines how 'live' images, like poetry, construct collective memory and understanding. She holds an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.

Tringa Gashi (b.1996) is a Copenhagen-based artist who’s practice examines the intersections of economy, desire, and political structures, exploring how systemic injustices shape individual dreams, societal needs, and collective aspirations. Through a multidisciplinary approach, Gashi dissects the ways in which power dynamics influence both personal and public spaces. She holds an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2024) and a BFA from Malmö Art Academy (2021).
